To cater to future passenger traffic demand, Sardar Vallabhbhai International Airport (SVPI) at Ahmedabad has been planning to implement development and expansion projects. The airport's terminal can currently accommodate 8 million passengers a year. With the planned development and expansion work, the airport will be able to handle 20 million passengers annually by 2025. The development and expansion project includes a new terminal building and the refurbishment of existing terminals.

The company adds that the existing terminal infrastructure will not be able to meet the growing demand for passenger traffic, thus the importance of the planned expansion and development. SVPI expects a passenger movement of 12 million for the current financial year.
