Sugie Seito Co., Ltd.

IASEA asked Sugie Seito Co., Ltd. what they thought about some things in the airport industry. The company also discussed its opinions about the effects of climate change on airports and the future of airport terminals. Find out what the company has to say.

Q: How has climate change affected airport runways and how are airports adapting to the changing climate to upkeep their infrastructure resilient to climate change?

Climate change is undeniably one of our environmental issues, and we think that selecting products and manufacturers that contribute to CO2 reduction and are environmentally friendly is one good approach to adapting to it. In our opinion, the value of a product now is not only about the quality and price but also the sustainability value as well.

Q: What do you think airport terminals will look like 10 years from now if all airport terminals are built efficiently?

Considering the sustainability value, we think that airport terminals will be moving to be even more environmentally friendly; an ECO airport could be fully implemented, and of course, improvements in the digitalization of various elements could be expected.

Q: After 2 years of industry change, airport advancement, and digital acceleration, what are some of the challenges airports in Asia are facing now and how are they keeping up with their European counterparts?

We think that the initiative for ECO Airport is still lagging in some Asian countries. Singapore's Changi Airport, which is one of the most environmentally friendly airports in Asia, can serve as a model and a leader for other countries to make the necessary changes to keep up with Europe.
