Outsight

IASEA interviewed Outsight to know more about the company's projects geared toward airport operation. The company also discussed its thoughts about the future of fleet management and named some challenges the airport industry is facing. Read more about the company's answers here.

Q: What is the most innovative and forward-thinking project Outsight has delivered to date, and as a result, how has it accelerated its airport operation efficiency?

Outsight’s Spatial Intelligence Platform is the most advanced 3D perception airport software solution to turn LiDAR raw data into actionable information in a 3D passenger flow monitoring dashboard and visualization tool.

In airports, Outsight's perception software makes it easy for terminal operators to use people flow monitoring solutions quickly. This gives airports a whole new level of operational awareness that can be used for many things, like watching lines, managing assets, measuring crowd density, and many more! Because of the software’s unique features like object detection and tracking, classification, and flow monitoring, the passenger experience can be improved from the curb to the gate with an integrated, on-screen, and flexible solution that can be used for many different use cases on a single infrastructure.

Q: After 2 years of industry change, airport advancement, and digital acceleration, what are some of the challenges airports in Asia are facing now and how are they keeping up with their European counterparts?

Asian airports have been facing longer recovery times after the COVID pandemic than airports on other continents as a result of strong travel restrictions and reduced demand. In addition, Asian airports are also experiencing a severe lack of human resources and consequent traffic congestion in terminals.
As a result, terminals in the area are increasing their adoption of new technology and investing in training and employee development to ensure the greatest possible passenger experience in these new times.
To meet demand, new solutions are being implemented to optimize operations, reduce time spent navigating the airport (from kerbside to aircraft), and improve travel quality.

Outsight’s Spatial Intelligence Platform is a key resource to achieve this operational efficiency by being able to streamline and simplify the data from the terminal activities into an actionable dashboard and visualization tool.

Q: What are your thoughts about the Future of Fleet Management? How do you think this will impact GSE fleet efficiency and how will Outsight play a role in this?

In the pursuit of optimal efficiency, GSEs play a significant role in reducing delays, improving turnaround times, and offering dynamic operations. In this way, being able to track a vehicle's location on a map, its speed, how much energy it uses, and other relevant information could help prevent energy loss, wasteful mobility, and better plan repair times. As a solution, Outsight's 3D LiDAR perception software enables operators to monitor and manage their fleet's position, speed, and trajectory, among other applications.
