In June 2023, Changi Airport accommodated a total of 5.12 million passengers. This is the airport's first time hitting the five million mark since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The number of flights also increased to 27,500, which is 88% of the flights in June 2019. These positive outcomes are a result of the introduction of new routes at Changi Airport.
Pre-pandemic, Changi Airport accommodated 7,400 weekly flights, serving over 170 cities worldwide. After nearly three years of travel restrictions because of the pandemic, Changi Airport is slowly restoring connectivity. According to Changi Airport Group’s executive vice president for air hub and cargo development, Mr. Lim Ching Kiat, passenger movements at the airport are gradually moving closer to 90% of 2019 levels as the second quarter of 2023 ends.
