Singapore Airlines to hire more trainees

As air travel continues to rebound from Covid-19, Singapore Airlines is continuously ramping up its hiring. It has hired 1,200 cabin crew trainees since February this year and wants to bring in 800 more by December. It also plans to hire people from Indonesia, Taiwan, China, and South Korea.

Aside from cabin crew trainees, the aviation sector is also in need of more ground handlers, air traffic controllers, security staff, cleaners, and other types of airport workers. This is to meet the expected passenger traffic of 70-80% by year-end.

Mr Subhas Menon, director-general of the Association of Asia-Pacific Airlines, said that the greatest shortage in the industry is in security, immigration, hospitality, and ground handling.
