The new airport in Cambodia, which will serve Phnom Penh, has already passed the 43% completion mark. This is viewed as beneficial to the recovery of the civil aviation and tourism sectors. The first part of Techo International Airport (TIA), which used to be called Techo Takhmao International Airport, should be done by the middle of 2024. Pacific Asia Travel Association Cambodia Chapter Chairman Thourn Sinan praised the progress of the TIA's construction and said that this should support more aviation business and the recovery of the local tourism sector. He added that TIA is a modern addition to the country's air passenger and freight transport sectors.

To promote sustainable growth as demand for air travel and cargo services picks up, the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) spokesman and undersecretary of state, Sin Chansereyvutha, issued a general call for safety, security, quality, resiliency, eco-friendliness, and innovation considerations in the construction of large amounts of aviation-related infrastructure. SSCA also noted that international airlines had resumed commercial flights to Cambodia last December.
