[ Thailand ] Thai Airways International (THAI) has said that it is set to unveil ‘the world’s No. 1 MRO Centre” by the year 2021.

Usanee Sangsingkeo, THAI Acting President, said that the airline had reached an initial agreement with Airbus to exchange the necessary information and jointly evaluate the potential development of a TG MRO Complex Development at U-Tapao International Airport (UTP). The centre will be equipped with “cutting-edge innovation and technological advancements that adheres to international standards,” THAI said. The centre will also support other aviation businesses that comply with the Government’s policies, serve airlines across the region and the world, as well as creating sustainable revenue for THAI and Thailand. Upon its completion, the new aircraft MRO centre will be able to provide light and heavy maintenance for multiple aircraft types utilising the latest digital technology to assess and conduct aircraft maintenance with high performance evaluation technology. Furthermore, it will include an intelligent maintenance centre that is environmentally friendly and will reduce investment costs, THAI said. The centre will also be able to train the best aviation technicians and engineers based on international standards, which will support the future expansion of aircraft maintenance business in the years to come.
